Hutch remembers something very painful that happened to him in his past. He finally tells Starsky and he helps him confront his father and deal with all his demons.
Starsky... received the strangest call from Hutch's mother. "Yes, Mrs. Hutchinson. What can I do for you?"
"Well, I just received a phone call from my very inebriated son, professing his total and undying love for you," she said angrily. "What do you think about that, Mr. Starsky?"
"What? Hutch said he loves me?" Starsky asked in astonishment.
"What have you done to him?" Helen shouted. Her voice shook with fury.
For a few minutes, all Starsky could process was that Hutch loved him, was in love with him. He loves ME!
