The Star by Laura McEwan

That first season after Gunther, Hutch grumbled as usual, but only for Starsky's amusement. He brought everything Starsky wished for, from dreidels, to lighted windows, to a tree decorated within an inch of its life.

On Christmas Eve, he stood at the window, listening as bells rang from nearby churches. He searched the sky for a glimpse of stars, but they were difficult to see.

Starsky came from behind him, pressing a package into his hands. "You can't see them. But open this now."

"Star of David," Hutch murmured. "Of course." And his kiss gave thanks to God for Starsky.

100 words. Prompt: Star, tree, holiday, dreidel, Christmas, gift.
